Thermador Gas Ranges (Faulty EXTRALOW
feature)
The firm, on behalf of a client, is investigating the allegedly
faulty low burners (or what the company refers to as the EXTRALOW
feature) on several models of Thermador's high end gas ranges.
The EXTRALOW feature is specifically designed to produce a small
and constant amount of heat by cycling on and off. Allegedly
the lighting mechanism is defective and the ignition starter
frequently fails. Thermador markets this feature explicitly
and prominently as an attraction for home chefs to keep foods
such as fondue and sauces at low temperatures. However, these
burners are allegedly unreliable in either lighting or maintaining
low temperature and are in frequent need of repair and/or replacement.
Our investigation suggests that defective parts include Thermador’s
patented simmer control potentiometer, igniter switch and motherboard.
Consumers are frustrated by their inability to find these alleged
defective parts through Thermador and their related maintenance
companies. Repair costs run anywhere from $150 to $400, and
many complainants reported that they needed multiple repairs.

Overtime Pay for Employees Working in the Technology Field
Chavez & Gertler represents technology workers who have
allegedly been wrongfully denied overtime compensation. Under
the Fair Labor Standards Act ("FLSA") and various
state laws only a narrow subset and small minority of technology
workers (who make over $100,000 per year and are involved in
software development or other independent creative work, such
as coding or architecture design) are exempt from overtime regulations
and may not be entitled to overtime. But the vast majority
of technology workers, regardless of how they are labeled or
paid (e.g., by salary or hourly) are entitled under state and
federal law to overtime pay.

Defective Technology Products and Components
Chavez & Gertler attorneys have represented consumers who
have purchased allegedly defective products and services including
computers (Hewlett Packard), camcorders (Sony and JVC), marine
engines (Mercury Marine), inkjet printers (Hewlett Packard),
roofing shingles (Certainteed) and voice over internet protocol
phone service (Vonage). The firm has developed significant expertise
in analyzing how to quickly master the technology and the precise
cause of these alleged defects or malfunctions. Armed with that
knowledge, and its vast litigation expertise, Chavez & Gertler
attorneys have served consumers well by successfully negotiating
settlements with manufacturers that include real and valuable
relief, such as extended warranties, reimbursements for out
of pocket expenses, cash compensation and even product replacement.
